Ah doesn't this feel familiar! My suggestion will be to keep it minimal in terms of parent forums. My issue with forums and KM back in the day had too many. Just look at BM for an example.

I get where you’re coming from… though it’s tough to strike a balance in forum format; I own and have owned a few forums myself   and one of the hardest aspects of it to me has been the finding of that balance. When you consider all the subject areas this hobby represents, it’s a real brain twister to cover everything. For instance, I’d be shocked if one of the areas Gary is wrestling with is, in any one area (e.g., Armor), do you have a separate subforum for Galleries of finished work and a separate subforum for Builds? There’s no easy answer for that. I can say from experience, that adding new sunbforums latter, and then having to move tons of threads is akin to doing you taxes in a pitch blac cave… not imnpossible, but a pain in the bats.

For me, I’m good with more, rather than less. But I totally agree that a lot of forums overdo. For what it’s worth, I liked the old KM format, but it definitely is a to each their own preference.

Great point on the minimal format, though… I don’t envy Gary’s job ahead with crafting the categories and subforums…it’s a lot of work but a labor of love.

Thanks for that Em, it was something I wanted to do but hadn't gotten around to working it out yet. I've now worked it out and started adding subcategories. To keep it all neat from the front I've made it so you can't see the subcategories until you've gone into the main Category. So, for example, you won't see New & Upcoming Products or Work in Progress until you go into the Armour section.

Hi team

I have a question I'd like to pose about the structure of a military aircraft - specifically, whether the twin seater trainer vampire variants (T.11 etc.) shares the rear half / wings / tail booms with the single seater variants, and just had a different cockpit and nose 'pod' installed, or did the rear half require some modification and widening to fit it - and was wondering where would be best to post this kind of question?

Straight in to the root of Aviation for now, if we see more of these types of questions then we'll take a look at adding subs.
