I see Tigers everywhere here so someone is going to have to deal to them. Thankfully us resourceful Brits figured out how to make the Sherman actually useful.

I will be building a Dragon 1/35 Sherman Firefly IC Welded Hull Model, which I have just purchased. Many details will follow, as will moneys.

Finally kicked this off, now I'm settled in my new house..

Plastic sections of the hull build basically done. Usual dragon fiddly build with questionable instructions but I reckon it looks nice.

Next up is the photo-etch and plastic which involved metal also.

Before you get to involved you'll have to change the hull mg posi haven't seen any Firefly's with the hull mg in place usually blocked off with a piece of cast armour which should be in the kit & pointed out in the instructions.......hope this is of some help...luv the Fireflys my favorite Sherman version so will be watching with interest... :woohoo:

I'm really interested in this build too. I have the Tasca kit which I'll be doing as a Kiwi one in Italy (bought it just before we came out), so taking all the notes I can !!

About half way through the etch work on the hull. incredibly fiddly as ever, and pretty much zero actual instructions. Should look pretty nice when done, will be some pictures with etch in place later today

Metal on the hull complete except for the parts I will add post-assembly (flaps and skirts). not as fiddly as the aber etch on the tiger but still drove me crazy! Im happy I stuck with it though.

That's very nicely done. The only thing I would have waited for was the addition of the cable. A little harder to paint, but still easy enough. These guys make a great kit. I still have one in the stash and a composite hull to finish

I'm not sure the cable was the right choice to install right now but hey, I am by nature a 'build it all and let my paintbrush sort it out' character..

I am always amazed how you Armour builders manage to build a complete model and then paint all the little fiddly bits afterwards, I just am not that good with a paint brush and all kudos to you guys! Really nice work there Shaun.

It is madness. but somehow easier and more effective than painting all the bits and trying to build it. Maybe.

Hull complete.. Turret up next

It's looking really excellent Shaun. Can't wait to see your painting process.
I had so much trouble with those PE front mudguards on my Dragon Sherman III. I had to cut them out of the fuller Desert ones.
Is that the same with this kit or do they come as per your photos?
Yours look incredibly "clean". As Maarten says, it is very good gluing.

The pe mudguards came as two pieces.. one main one which needed two folds and a curve, and also a small bracing piece on the side. the two main folds were a pain because once you did one it got in the way of holding the piece to bend the other. I fiddled around and found a way to hold it. The curve I used a round knife handle to roll it around until it got the right fit and then applied a bead of glue to the inside.

Not as fiddly as some parts but was a bit nervous doing it!

Adhesive applier maybe?

As others have said, very clean work. Never been particularly fussed with the Shermans but this one looks good. That may also be the high standard of your work though as opposed to the tank itself....

In Soviet Russia, Iron Curtain GB builds you!

People look at me funny when I say I own "Fifty shades of Grey". FS36118, FS36270, FS36375.....

Got a basic primer on. a few spots I will probably clean up before proceeding due to my taking a few runs to get back into the airbrush mood after months off.

I have bought one of the olive green modulation sets.. will be interesting to see how the layered finish goes!

Just want to reiterate that the construction you've shown us over the last couple of weeks has been one of cleanest I have ever seen on any scale modelling site, and the primer coat really emphasises this.
