This group build is to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It will run from 10th of July to 31st of October, 2015, following the dates of the battle.

The build is open to any scale and any subject that played a role in the Battle of Britain. While the Battle of Britain is foremost remembered as an air battle, builds including figures (e.g. famous historical figures from the battle), vehicles and armour (e.g. AA guns) and dioramas (e.g. airfield dioramas) are eligible provided a documented link can be established.

The model must be built entirely within the build dates to qualify, and the build should be accompanied by a thread in the group build forum documenting regular progress. Post your sprues at the beginning of the thread! By the end of the group build (and no later than 24 hours after the completion date) participants should post five pictures of the completed build in the group build forum which will be organised shortly.

To discourage cynical entries the build is open only to those who have been members of KiwiModeller for two months at the start of the group build and with at least thirty posts in the forums. So lurkers, get posting now if you want to enter! I will also vet for cynical or “gaming” entries and vote rigging.

No entry fee will be charged, but this is a good opportunity to make a donation to the upkeep of KiwiModeller.

The winner of the group build will be decided by popular vote. Voting will run for the week following the 1st of November, ending Midday the 8th of November. A deadlock will be decided by a separate run-off vote.

So I've gotten tired of seeing all these other builds happening so I'm going to try and bang out this one. It's the weekend edition so that probably means a few months for me.

There's only 3 bags of spruces and a small decal sheet. I'm still not sure what scheme I will make but am open to suggestions

Cool. :cheer: If you want to simplify the paint job a bit you could go for an Emil without the mottle. Like two here: www.hannants.co.uk/product/SS481195

Cool bananas! The good thing with the Emil is that there are loads of really eye catching schemes to choose from.
Looking forward to seeing your progress. B)
I've got spare balkencrosses, swastikas and various spare unit numbers in different colours in my spares box if you (or anyone else) runs into problems and needs a replacement decal in 1/48 scale.

Cheers VD. Im actually not going to put swastikas on the plane. I don't know if any scheme didn't use them, but I can't bring myself to have them displayed in my house, historical accuracy be damned. May see what you do have though in unit numbers. need to start researching and putting a plan together.
I did think about building it just after take off with the iconic (I think) wheels going up non-symmetrically, but I don't think I have the time to do that and apply all the new techniques I'm going to have to learn with a WWII plane build. But who knows as I am now looking at Hannants at a pilot figure.

Soooooo.... if I do make it taking off, where do you get acrylic rod from?

Most of the online shops sell long sections of rod so shipping can be the killer

Check ya local area for anyone who does acrylic displays, menu holders, pamphlet holders right upto bigger stuff and pop in.
The local place here didnt have anything round but gave me some rectangular offcuts for free, even polished em up because it was quiet and he was bored.

Stand aside caffine, this is a job for alcohol.

Cheers. I've found a place not far up the road from me I'll check out. I'm gonna need some when I make my B1 anyway. Need to go to Smith and Smith and get a piece of glass for cutting too.
