This group build is to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It will run from 10th of July to 31st of October, 2015, following the dates of the battle.

The build is open to any scale and any subject that played a role in the Battle of Britain. While the Battle of Britain is foremost remembered as an air battle, builds including figures (e.g. famous historical figures from the battle), vehicles and armour (e.g. AA guns) and dioramas (e.g. airfield dioramas) are eligible provided a documented link can be established.

The model must be built entirely within the build dates to qualify, and the build should be accompanied by a thread in the group build forum documenting regular progress. Post your sprues at the beginning of the thread! By the end of the group build (and no later than 24 hours after the completion date) participants should post five pictures of the completed build in the group build forum which will be organised shortly.

To discourage cynical entries the build is open only to those who have been members of KiwiModeller for two months at the start of the group build and with at least thirty posts in the forums. So lurkers, get posting now if you want to enter! I will also vet for cynical or “gaming” entries and vote rigging.

No entry fee will be charged, but this is a good opportunity to make a donation to the upkeep of KiwiModeller.

The winner of the group build will be decided by popular vote. Voting will run for the week following the 1st of November, ending Midday the 8th of November. A deadlock will be decided by a separate run-off vote.

Thanks all, here are the final betterish pictures. I'm having trouble keeping the aerial straight because the mast isn't strong enough. I'm probably fix that sometime. But here she is. It was a good fun build, but not a kit for beginners. The cockpit and canopy is a bit of a challenge but it looks nice when finished. The size of the model is a bit of a challenge. The number of times I bumped the wing tips and took off paint. You need a big work bench for this sucker. Overall it's an excellent kit, despite the noted vagueness in the instructions. Now on to the next kit, though I might have a short break. This is easily the most time I've put into a model. :pinch:

A very enjoyable build to follow.
Love the finished model and your "better-ish" photos of it. Nicely lit.

This is actually a problem. It (just) fits the last remaining display spot. I'm not sure where the next one goes though. :S I'm addicted to large scale now, so I'll have to do something.

Lovely model Grant. Equally impressive is you have a display space that can accommodate this model. I don't think about things like chipping paint off wings because of a model's size, but now that you mention it, it makes absolute sense.

What a stunning end result. Have loved following this build.

As for where to put it... HK Models have a wall mount for their 1/32 B-17 that allows you to hang it vertically on a wall. Would something like that be an option? I'm running into similar issues of where to put my builds too.

B) on the wall is a good option. This is such fine work. Beautiful finish mate. It's been a pleasure to watch.

I was thinking of this yesterday. I thought I might drill a small hole somewhere through the tail, and then attach that to a picture hook with a bit of wire. I might try this with one of my more disposable builds. :)
