A mate just sent me through some pics of a 16th scale King Tiger he's been working on over the past few years. He says it's only half done. He made the Mauser using hypodermic syringe needles. The lens on the scope is made with the tip of a ball point pen. He copied it from a Holland and Holland.
Pretty sure it's not the Trumpeter kit. I remember he was building this when we worked together 20 odd years ago. He also has a 1/16 Tiger in the works. I know he has some of the Verlinden 1/16 stuff too
The tiger 2 model is the old tamiya one, which has been detailed up with litho plate etc.The armour was textured with a dremmel and the zimm, was done with epoxy putty-and a screw driver-changing direction now and again,as the guys doing the real thing would off.The cables on the side are wire ropes from a boat shop,i used k/s tubes and part of the eyelet dremmeled out from the tamiya part. The mg 34 is a verlinden part, plus the ammo are 35th scale 50cal rounds-mounted on home etched stripper clips…more have been added, plus i have to make the ammo pouch also. The tracks, guns etc are painted in gunze mr colour, metal colour, which is a buffing paint. The rest of the tiger is in humbrol enamel. The rifle was made with a cut down tamiya mauser stock plus action and has a hypo needle barrel plus barrel band, the scope is made from tubes and a pen part..lens being crstal-cleared it all was copied from a holland and holland 375 magnum i have, which looks like a rifle herman goring tested in 8x68s as a long range sniper rifle…anyway its all just a test run before i start the trumpeter tiger 2(god knows when!) Thanks for putting my pics up Simmon, cheers Mark
