Hi guys,
Hadley, you are probably the subject expert here, but I’ve been nursing a desire to build a Hind kit in 1/72. Who does the best one?
From my limited research, I’m counting out the Tamiya kit (too old), but know very little about the rest. I know Hasegawa do several versions, as well as Zvezda, Revell, Italeri and maybe Trumpeter/Hobbyboss.
Interested to hear some recommendations
Thanks
Tania

From memory, the hobbyboss one isn't too bad but the only one that captures the fuselage twist that the real thing has is the newer zvezda mold, I can't recall which one is the newer mould but they have done 10-12 versions and some of the revell boxings are the zvezda moulds too. Just checked and the V/VP, V/VP Hind E, MI35 and MI24P kits all look to be the new ones. They have full interiors, engines, crew and armaments and appear to be the last word in 1/72 Hind kits.

Hey Tania
Depends really on which variant you want to build, as each kit manufacturers have done certain variants. A, D, E, M, P, V, etc
The "A model" has the different canopy but most people dont know the differences from the rest
Cynakyl has some valid points, Zvezda may be a good option. There was a brand starting with A (ARK of something) a few years back that released a kit but not sure how good they are. Worth looking around scalemate actually
My suggestion would be the Trumpter 1/35 haha

Thanks guys. I found some info on Britmodeler too, and it looks like the Zvezda may be the way to go....I don’t know much about them, but remember Rambo doing some damage in one in one of the movies!
I also saw an Indonesian one on patrol near our hotel in Bali when the G8 conference (or something similar) was on there. I saw a Hasegawa German “Special colours” one in Hong Kong recently, but rather than buying it on impulse, I thought I should do some research first. I’ve also seen a Hasegawa “Gray Camouflage” Superhind version, but it costs a small fortune....I think it has some resin parts.
Cheers for the info.

The hasegawa kits are quite an old mold and suffer from some poor fit issues and soft detail from what I have read. I really want a superhind too and was contemplating getting the zvezda kit and the hasegawa superhind to get the resin mods but by the time i did that I wouldn't have much change out of $100-120 so figured it wasn't worth it. I've got a trumpy kit and if someone did the superhind conversion in 1/35 I'd be all over it.

Speaking of Rambo
In one of them they have dressed a Puma up as a Hind A...
And a Gazelle was modified I think too

Zvezda (also re-boxed by RoG) without a doubt - one of the BEST 1:72 kits ever released !!!! - not my hyperbole, just read some reviews ;)

Hi Tania
I had my Hobby Boss boxing of the Mi-24V reasonably handy so have taken images of the kit's contents for you. It is nicely moulded.
Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve,
I saw that kit whilst I was in Hong Kong last weekend whilst doing my usual trawl of the hobby shops...it was pretty reasonably priced too. It will be my go-to if I can’t find a Zvezda ....I saw a Trumpeter one that looked like a pretty old tooling, but didn’t have any luck finding a Zvezda, although I see Hobbyeasy have it in stock.
From what I’ve seen, the only downsides of the Hobbyboss one are the one piece canopy, and no rotor sag built-in.
Thanks everyone for the helpful replies.
