Test fitting the wings. There won't be any issues here.

Easily the biggest kit I have built. Not sure where I'll be putting her once she's finished.

Hmmm, previous test fitting showed no issues, but I couldn't get the front end closing nicely last night. Unfortunately some of the cockpit assemblies fell out. Modelling after 13 hours slog at work probably wasn't the best idea either

A bit of an alignment issue - Probably something I've done. Turns out if I had got the alignment the way I wanted it last night, the forward canopy wouldn't have fitted and neither would the coaming of the instrument panel.

Sacrificing a clean join here...

To allow a better fit here...

So, the cockpit is all back together and I'm currently gluing the fuselage together.

Got to give a quick commendation to KMNZ for pointing out this possible fit issue. Tips llike this are gold dust for builders, and if I ever get to my own Promodeller kit of this aircraft it's good to know this helpful topic is close at hand. Cheers.

Wiring painted and instrument panel attached to the coaming. Quite a lot of wiring to route. I will also adjust how some of the wiring is positioned as some of it hangs down below the bottom of the IP in reference photos.

Good news... the IP and coaming are glued into place. Routing all that wiring was a bit of a hassle. The IP separated from the coaming during the first attempt.

Quite a few fit issues. Had to carve and shape the top instruments on the radio stack to get the roof over them. Placed a shimmy on the port side, because if I closed that gap, that section would sit below the spine. Will be an easy fill.

At this stage, I am a little nervous about how the glass sections are going to fit.

Tidied up the spine insert last night. Ready to run a bit of filler along the lines now. Also began working on fitting the engine shrouds to the wings.

Wings almost complete. The areas around the wingroot are going to need to be filled and sanded as there is currently a slight step. The engines are just taped on here...

Because I wanted to see how these brutes are going to look

I feeling the excitement here with you. It’s so nice to get to the point where you can finally close something up and feel like you’re getting somewhere. I can’t wait to se the paint on it.

It's funny the way things sometimes work out. The poor fit I mentioned earlier seems to now be fine (with some gentle persuasion). Maybe gluing the IP and coaming on helped this area out.

Just the nose section and turrets to mask off now. Definitely worth masking off the insides too. Because with so much visible, you don't want to be seeing glossy looking frames in the interior. Montex Masks make it so easy!

Been a lot of test fitting, filling and sanding going on. It's definitrly worth it. There'd be a whole lot of ugly otherwise.

Ugly step.

Fixed.

Guages.

More ugly steps.

Fixed.

A lot of work to get the front glass on nicely. Just another swipe of filler required.

Back home after a short beach break. First task assembly of the Master MG 15 barrels. Rather fiddly folding and bending the curves on the sight mounts, but a massive step up in detail compared to the kit representations.

Painted and installed with canopy taped in place to help get the MG aligned.

Hoping to fit the rest of the glass today.

Closing up complete. Lots of sanding required to get it to this stage.

Ugly gap and step at the back. Rather just have to tidy up one area like this instead of gaps between every part.

Building up with putty, filling and profiling almost complete in the problem area.

Micro Kristal Klear brushed into all seams and cleaned up with a cotton bud moistened with water. Might need to go over these areas again as the Klear shrinks as it dries.

Checked for flaws with a coat of German grey. I decided to do this before glueing the wings on so that any reworking would be easier.

Happy to report that no reworking is required.

I've decided to give black basing a go on this one. So while I wait for my order of Vallejo black surface primer to arrive from BNA, I will just have to start another build :cheer:
