Hey guys, I'm a junior modeler who is interested in entering a model at this years IPMS Nationals ans it in Cambridge and I live in Hamilton. I was wondering how to enter a model, if I need to be a member of a club and if so how to go about this. Thanks in advance.
Hi Nathaniel, welcome to the site mate.
To enter in to the IPMS competitions you will technically need to be a member of a model club. If you don't wish to join a club as I know many people don't you can still enter in to the non IPMS competitions which we will be holding alongside the IPMS ones.
I'll publish more info on these categories in due course, due to the sheer scale of events going on these will be a lot smaller than the normal competitions at AiC.
Hope that helps a bit.
How much smaller will the non IPMS side be Gary? is it going to be competition stuff only this year or do we still bring some show stuff as well? A water leak has turned into a full reno at our place so havent been near the bench in a few months and only have three or four models that havent placed in competition already.
We'll have IPMS Compo tables, non IPMS compos and some display only tables so we get a good mix.
Those that have finished 1st place in IPMS or AiC compos won't be allowed in the IPMS comps, same with non IPMS comps, just pop them on the normal tables for people to drool over.
To all the nay sayers, doom bringers, whingers and old biddies, if you actually read the original T's & C's attachment you will see that we have already excluded previous IPMS and AIC winners from being able to enter.
So please stop sending me messages telling me how it should or shouldn't be, if you don't like the rules as they are then suck it up princess is all I've got to say
It's like herding cats at times mate, I'm a firm believer in the Carrot and Stick approach but right now I'm all out of carrots...............
Anyway, now that fun stuff is over
I've just uploaded the Entry form for those of you who want to preregister your models (this is the prefered method as it will speed things up on the day). You can find the attached spreadsheet on the very fist post in this thread.
I'm sure I'm going to get inundated with messages from people who hate Microsoft for whatever snowflake beliefs they have, but if you do find yourself without an appropriate tool to open the aforementioned spreadsheet, feel free to download Google Open docs, their spreadsheet tool lets you import the xlsx files from the big bad Microsoft wolf and edit it.
Don't message me as I don't do Tech Support (now you see why they won't let me answer phones at work lol).
Ooh almost forgot the picture to draw your attention to this post..........

Yes same here, I need to drag one of mine out of the stash.
For anyone in one of the model clubs or organisations here in NZ that would like me to email them the files separately please post here with the email address you want them sent to (or PM me). I've just sent them to Dave for the Welly boys.

On behalf of Steve can I urge any folks looking to bring their pride & joy to enter in to the comp, PLEASE use the pre-enter form and send it to Steve as early as possible. Speaking from bitter experience, it's a pig of a job to enter models on the day of the event, do the right thing folks, PLEASE pre-enter this year, cheers.
Thanks Ian. If I can have the entries by Wednesdsty 7th I can process every thing and have all the paper work and model tags ready for when you arrive. Enter ices will be accepted up to 11:00 on the Saturday If you want to enter one last minute model on the day, no problem. But what I can't have is every one turn up with a large number of models wanting to register on the day.
