Armistice in Cambridge was created by Hadley
Hello KM!!!!
I had a message yesterday regarding AiC which has prompted me to do this sooner rather than later

Firstly, AiC is going ahead, this has never changed
The Waikato club will still be hosting as normal
I have taken over as President of the club

I have started attending the AiC meetings and will be the point of contact for AiC questions
I will be catching up with Gary to relay details required from previous AiC's

Basically, we will revert back to the same sorta thing as 2017 and earlier. The plan so far:
-the models will be upstairs
-competition tables
-display tables (non competition models)
-kits for kids
-stash for sale
-bay hobbies in the front foyer area
-no MA unfortunately (Dave let me know if this changes, we would like to see you back!)

Get touch if you (pm or post)
-are a vendor wanting to sell
-are someone willing to help out. If there is something in particular you would like to do just let me know (kids kits, judge, etc)
-would like your own table/tables
-can offer a prize
-have some suggestions

As for prizes, I will TRY have it so that if you win a tank category you don't win a plane etc...or do people not care?

That will do for now, more to come later

EDIT:
Helpers
-Chris/Fooseboy: Judge
-Craig Sargent: Judge
-Ian Jackson: Judge
-Steve Gray: Judge & competition entrants
-Viperbuilder: Judge & kits for kids
-Elliott & Craig: kids for kids
Own Stands/Tables
-bay hobbies
-maltsr
-immortals

EDIT: Competition entry form attached

Thanks Hadley for picking this up and for taking over as El Presidente, it's funny I said 2 years ago I was going to call it quits after 2018 but people didn't seem to believe me :)
I think 10 years at the helm of the club and the event are more than enough and it's time someone else stepped up (or was thrown under the bus in Hadley's case lol).
It was great but in all the years of organising the event I never got to just walk around and enjoy it for what it was.
So this year I'm going to be doing what almost everyone else has been doing and rock up on the day dump my crap on the tables and wander off to enjoy the event.
I'm still organising Taupo, will let people know about that when I know more, still waiting for confirmation on tables.

Its good to see someone else stepping up and taking ownership of being event coordinator, so well done Hadley. All you need is about half a dozen people to also take ownership of looking after respective areas of the event and you'll have a successful event. Just task each of your club members with bringing kits to the show for display and competition, and being rostered a few hours on one of the days helping out with one of the various taskings.

I'm quite happy to come up and help out again with the kids building kits and also the judging.

Organise the show and they will come.

Steve

Thanks to you too Gary for keeping the Waikato club alive for the last 10 years and getting it on the map.

I'm looking forward to seeing that big 1-32 B-24 on the table this year. Hope it doesn't burn you out in the process.

Good on you.. I've only been down once but it was a really nice thing!

Clubs always struggle to get people who DO things (Of course there is never a shortage of people to tell you you are doing it wrong), so stepping up is great.

Good to hear Hadley. Great someone is carrying this on. And thanks for your decadent hard work Gaz.

I will be there all going to plan and I’m happy to help with judging again this year. I’m also now chairman of Auckland again and while I can’t guarantee anything, will try to get some of the Auckland club there again. I know there will be a few of us who are happy to bring some stuff for display, and do some modelling over the weekend too.

Happy to help out with the judging again if needed altho' this may be limited as I tend to enter in a wide range of classes. I can offer kits as prizes in aircraft and car classes too. Will book my usual accomodation in the Tron next month. Hopefully I can get down on Friday to help set-up like last year...

See y'all in November.

Thanks for offering to help out Ian, let me know closer to the event what classes you'll be entering and we'll work out the rest that you can judge
As with prizes, that would be hugely appreciated again we'll touch base later to discuss. Thanks

Keen to get a table or two for the Aucklanders travelling down to display some stuff and do some modelling over the weekend, if that is possible please Hadley.

What is the deal with second hand kits and aftermarket? Can we stick a box of stuff on our table to sell as well?

Hey Craig
We are running the same setup as 2017
There will be 2 sections for models. The tables in the middle are for models entered in the competition, the other tables, to the left as you walk in, will be for the "other models" that people are bringing to display but not entered in the competition
So Aucklanders bringing kits down will be putting their models in these areas rather than seperate tables (unless you wish to pay for table space to have your own area)
There will be a few spaces in which people can model behind the "other models" tables but without knowing how many and whos expecting to model I cant guarantee there will be space, I'm sure we'll be ok though as we have been in previous years...

Selling the stash
I will be running the stash for sale table again so anyone wanting to sell any kits (aftermarket bits ok too) can put them on the table with me
Hope that answers your questions Craig

ATTENTION EVERYONE
Can anyone who is wanting to sell anything please ensure the following:
-kits must have a price
-kits must have a label showing its your kit (a sticker with your initials for example)
-each seller must provide a list of what theyre selling
-no price means i will asker the buyer for an offer
-no label means you've donated it
-waikato club takes a small cut of each sale

Ok cheers for the info Hadley. There will be two of us who will be modelling over the weekend, as we have since the show has been at Karapiro, so enough space for the two of us would be great. Thanks.

Will we be able to pre-register our models again like previous years ? - it's so much easier and takes a load off Steve on the day.

Hey all

Can I have everyones opinions?

I've been thinking about doing the prizegiving different this year...
Judges will go around each class and write down the winners
The winner lists will be passed on to me and at a particular time (say 3pm Saturday, tbc) I can announce the winners one by one
I thought this would be a cool way of doing it rather than just putting a ribbon beside your winning model

What do you think?

Also, keep eye out for update end of the week after we've had our club meeting

We did this in the past (we used to photograph everyone getting the awards) but stopped because it wasn't easy with the public milling around plus a lot of the contestants were out and about the show looking at the big tanks etc.
It's a nice way of doing it but can be hard to manage there.

Well that's my stuff packed. Couple of models for the display / comp, couple to work on (and some references), tools and bases. Just need to update my sales list and I'm ready for Friday.

Still need to know what time we can access the hall, and hopefully hear that the pre-entry forms are available.... :S

See y'all next weekend.

Hall access on Friday will be at 1pm, it could have been earlier but a number from the club cannot make it out until then.
There is a pre-Registration form that I am sure Hadley will post soon.
